SC D1 Colloquium 2015

13/09/2015 - 18/09/2015
- BR

Cigré Study Committee D1 (Materials and Emerging Test Techniques) will hold its 2015 Colloquium and Study Committee meeting and associated working group meetings in Rio de Janeiro.

Cigré Study Committee D1 (Materials and Emerging Test Techniques) will hold its 2015 Colloquium and Study Committee meeting and associated working group meetings in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 13 – 18 September 2015.

The theme of the Colloquium is“Trends in Technology, Materials, Testing and Diagnostics Applied to Electric Power Systems”. It is aimed at aligning with CIGRÉ’s major focus on Power Systems of the Future.

The structures of electric power systems face significant changes with the growing implementation of distributed and renewable generation, smart grids and bulk transmission networks. In addition to the expansion of networks in developing countries, there is also a demand for the renewal and expansion of existing networks in highly developed industrial countries where many of the network elements have reached the end of their service life, and demand for electrical power continues to grow. These changes are occurring at a time of public concern at the cost of electricity, acceptance of infrastructure, and impact on the environment. These conflicting challenges are best met through the employment of best practices in the adoption of new technology, design, materials, and diagnostic practices and maintenance of electrical networks.

The Preferential Subjects of the Colloquium were defined focusing materials and emerging test and diagnostic techniques (PS1 and PS2), including applications in UHV systems, and the relevant material and testing issues applied to insulated cables, including DC cables with polymeric insulation (PS3).

The Colloquium will be supported by tutorials and technical meetings on current issues in Technology, Materials, Testing and Diagnostics Applied to Electric Power Systems and a technical visit to Cepel’s UHV outdoor test facility.

The deadline for abstract submissions is 30 March, 2015.

Submission of papers is required by 30 June, 2015.
