Cigré, the world forum for power systems

Words from the Secretary General

Dear All,

Thank you to all the delegates and visitors who have attended the 45th Session.

The Paris Session has brought together more than 3235 delegates from 85 countries.

Terry BOSTON, CEO of PJM, gave the keynote speech of the opening ceremony of Sunday, followed by the presentation of the new Honorary Members and of the recipients of the CIGRE Fellow award and of the CIGRE medal.

President of CIGRE Klaus Froehlich and Terry Boston, CEO of PJM Interconnection, as well as more than 3235 delegates and invited experts in the field of power engineering

The program on Monday included three meetings addressing general topics:

The opening panel on the challenges of the transition in power systems with perspectives given by five speakers from the different parts of the world.

The workshop on large disturbances including presentations on system operation and market issues.

The panel on EPEE (Electric Power Engineering Education) where 10 speakers presented their views on how to bridge the gap between industry and universities.

Tuesday to Friday the main events in the program were sixteen Discussion Meetings arranged in four parallel sessions each day. At the same time there were 315 Poster Sessions where delegates could meet with paper authors.

Over 8500 visitors attended the technical exhibition during which 240 exhibitors have presented their most advanced products and technical solutions, on three floors of the Palais des Congrès.

This Paris Session was the opportunity for the 16 Study Committees and most Working Groups to have their meetings, totaling nearly 200 meetings during the week.

We hope to see you in 2016.
