Guide for Transformer Maintenance TB 962

Thu, Jun 11, 2026 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM CEST
Transformers are among the most critical and costly assets in the electrical grid. Although they are designed and manufactured to be robust, with service lives often extending over several decades, effective maintenance is essential to ensure long-term performance, reliability, and safety. While numerous international standards support transformer specification, comprehensive and globally focused guidance on transformer maintenance has historically been limited.
This webinar introduces an updated CIGRE Technical Brochure developed to address that gap. As one of CIGRE’s most widely downloaded and referenced publications, this latest edition replaces TB 445, originally published in 2011, making the session highly relevant and timely. The webinar will broadly follow the structure of the brochure’s six chapters, covering maintenance strategies and current industry practices, the maintenance process, the impact of transformer specifications on maintenance requirements, a comprehensive range of maintenance actions, and the challenges associated with major transformer works. It will also highlight how the brochure has evolved since its first publication, reflecting recent practices, technologies, and developments across the transformer industry.
This webinar is presented by Claude Rajotte (convener of the WG A2.69, "Guide for Transformer Maintenance"), Christophe Elleau, Marc Foata, Toni Mellin & Lutz Hulka. Their Technical Brochure 962 was plulished (available on eCIGRE), in 2025. The registration to this webinar is free for all, CIGRE members and non-members. Technical Brochures can be downloaded for free by CIGRE members. If you are not a CIGRE member, join us here>
