SEERC Workshop “T&D Cooperation in SEERC Region”

From Separation to Integration

The South East European Regional Council (SEERC) of CIGRE will host the SEERC Workshop 2026 on 13–14 May 2026 in Pristina, Kosovo, bringing together experts and stakeholders from across the energy sector to address one of the most significant transformations facing modern power systems.

Under the theme “From Separation to Integration”, the workshop will explore how Transmission and Distribution systems, traditionally planned and operated separately, are increasingly evolving into one unified and interconnected grid.

As renewable energy integration accelerates, electrification expands, and distributed energy resources continue to reshape the network, the need for system-wide coordination has become essential. This transformation is not only about infrastructure modernization, it requires a new way of thinking about the power system as a single ecosystem, where planning, operation, flexibility, and investment decisions are closely interconnected.

The workshop will focus on both long-term planning and real-time operational challenges associated with integrated power systems.

Planning Phase Topics:

• Shared and dynamic system models
• Integrated Transmission and Distribution network design
• Joint scenarios for DER growth, electrification, and sector coupling
• Coordinated investments to maximize efficiency and resilience

Real-Time Operations Topics

• Enhanced coordination between TSOs and DSOs
• Improved system reliability and operational flexibility
• Faster and more effective response to system constraints

The event will provide a platform for utilities, system operators, researchers, regulators, technology providers, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge, discuss emerging practices, and strengthen regional collaboration.

At the core of the discussions lies a clear message: ONE GRID. ONE SYSTEM. ONE FUTURE.

Power systems are changing rapidly, and system-wide coordination is no longer optional, it is necessary now.
